The Steen-Hall Eye Institute Approach

No Referral Needed - Although our facility is recognized as a regional center excelling in cataract surgery, there is no need to obtain a referral to see our doctors unless it is required by your insurance coverage. You may just call for an appointment or information. We will be happy to schedule an appointment for you to be seen by the doctor of your choice for an evaluation of your vision and recommendations for care.

Cooperation With Your Existing Eye Doctor - As part of your surgery, we provide follow-up care to insure that your eyes heal properly and that you obtain the maximum benefit from the procedure. In some instances, you may find it more convenient to see your own eye doctor, or an optometrist or ophthalmologist near you for your follow-up care. We will gladly make arrangements for this.

Cooperation With Your Medical Doctor - In some cases, we will require information from your family doctor to help us in planning your care. If so, we will contact him with your permission to obtain the information we require.

One Comprehensive Facility Dedicated To Your Vision Needs - Steen-Hall Eye Institute is a comprehensive vision care facility that includes the physician offices of Steen-Hall & Associates plus the Eye Surgery Center of Willis-Knighton Medical Center. Your evaluation examination, all pre-operative testing and counseling, as well as the surgery are performed at our facility.

Family-Centered Approach - Surgery of any kind, no matter how minor, is an important event in your life. We encourage you to bring a family member or friend with you for all of your visits, including your surgery. This way, you can have someone special understand your condition and take an active role in your care. Your family member or friend can even observe your surgery thanks to a closed circuit viewing system in our Eye Surgery Center waiting room.

State-of-the Art Surgery Technology and Techniques - Our surgeons are recognized as leaders and innovators in the field of cataract surgery. Many of the latest surgical techniques and new technology were first used here at Steen-Hall Eye Institute before anywhere else in the ArkLaTex. The latest advances in surgical equipment, lasers, and computerized diagnostic and testing devices can be seen throughout the Institute. Our commitment is to be at the forefront of eye surgery developments for the benefit of our patients.

Pain-free Surgery - Our goal is to make the surgical experience one that is pleasant and pain free. Two types of anesthesia are available to keep you pain-free throughout the procedure: topical (eye drop) anesthesia and regional anesthesia. The selection of the type of anesthesia will be made by the surgeon with your best interest in mind.

Extensive Cataract Surgery Experience - The Steen-Hall Eye Institute team has performed well over 40,000 cataract surgeries and over 15,000 YAG Laser treatments. In addition to serving a clinical investigators for emerging techniques and technology in the field of cataract surgery, our doctors have written numerous articles and papers on their techniques, as well as served as instructors to other physicians learning state-of-the art surgery techniques.

Rapid Healing and Restoration of Vision - The microsurgical techniques we use allow for rapid healing and prompt restoration of vision. In most cases, no stitches are necessary to seal the wound closed and no patches are necessary. Most patients enjoy a noticeable improvement in their vision shortly after surgery and are able to return to their normal activities in a remarkably short time after the procedure. At Steen-Hall Eye Institute, over 98% of our patients who have otherwise healthy eyes, enjoy improved, clear vision following cataract surgery.

Short Stay at the Eye Surgery Center - Most patients are at the Eye Surgery Center for less than three hours. We strive to make your stay with us a pleasant experience.

Team of Vision Care Professional - In addition to our physicians, your patient care team includes highly-qualified optometrists and certified technicians focusing their attention on your vision needs. Through our team approach, you benefit from the skill and experience of a group of professionals who are among the best in their field.

Sincere Compassion - Not only is our staff comprised of highly-qualified vision care professionals, they are genuinely nice individuals. Our goal is to give our patients the same level of care and compassion that we, ourselves, would expect to receive.

Knowledge is Power - We firmly believe that when you have an understanding of your condition and the treatment you are to undergo, the chances of success are greatly improved. By replacing fear and apprehension with knowledge and understanding, you are better able to participate in your own care and obtain the best possible visual results. Our goal is to make your stay with us a pleasant experience.
