Dr.
Donald L. Hall is recognized as a leader and innovator in both
cataract surgery and the care of retinal disease and performed
the 1st CK procedure in the Ark-La-Tex in December 2003.
He received his training at Tulane University, the University of
Mississippi, the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami and at
Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. In 1973, he
joined Dr. William Steen as a partner, forming the practice of
Steen-Hall & Associates.Dr. Hall introduced modern cataract surgery to the Ark-La-Tex by performing the first small incision surgery and implanted the first
intraocular lens of the modern era in Louisiana. He introduced
contemporary retinal disease techniques to the Ark-La-Tex with the 1st argon laser in the area. He has
served as a clinical investigator for numerous devices in
cataract surgery, including intraocular lenses and surgical
instrumentation. He is the inventor of an instrument used
to insert the intraocular lens at "No stitch, No shot, No patch" cataract surgery. Dr.
Hall is a frequent guest lecturer and instructor on ophthalmic
surgical techniques. He has published over 20 papers and
book sections in the ophthalmic literature.
Dr. Hall is
certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a
former associate secretary of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO)
and has been the recipient of its Honor Award in recognition of
his contributions to the field of eye surgery. Dr. Hall
has served as a member of the editorial board of the AAO's
prestigious journal, Ophthalmology. He has been a
member of its Quality of Care Committee and its Practitioner
Advisory Committee, of which he served as chairman. Dr.
Hall has been selected to present the esteemed Reudeman Lecture
at the American Eye Study Club meeting in 2004.
Dr. Hall was voted the best eye surgeon in the Ark-La-Tex by his fellow physicians in 2004. |
